How to Identify a Westcode Dental Handpiece Model

Start with two references: the catalogue product ID and the configuration code shown on the Westcode product page. Send both with your destination country and tell us whether you need a quote, repeat order, part, repair review or document check. If you only have the handpiece in front of you, photograph the complete instrument, its head, coupling or connection interface, and every visible marking.

A family name or a single photograph is often not enough. One family may include different head, illumination, coupling or connection options. The sales configuration is also separate from any regulatory model designation or certificate scope, so these references should not be used interchangeably.

First, tell us what you need

The information needed for a new order is different from what a service technician needs for a repair. Choose the closest request:

  • new product quotation or sample request;
  • repeat order for an existing configuration;
  • OEM or private-label project review;
  • spare-part identification;
  • repair or troubleshooting follow-up; or
  • request for an applicable manual, certificate or other document.

This one line of context helps the right team review your request without asking you to submit the same information twice.

Write down these four details

DetailWhere to find itWhy it matters
Catalogue product IDWestcode product page or current catalogueNames the public model or product family
Configuration codeProduct information on the relevant product pageDistinguishes a listed head, illumination, coupling or connection option
Visible product markingLaser marking, label or other identification on the instrumentHelps us compare the item in hand with the product record
Destination countryYour delivery or sales marketAllows the team to check the relevant commercial and document requirements

A Westcode configuration code is a commercial reference. It is not automatically a regulatory model designation or certificate number. Similar names and photographs do not confirm spare-part compatibility or regulatory-document coverage.

Why one family can have several codes

The examples below come from published Westcode product pages. They show why buyers should copy both fields instead of ordering by family name alone.

Product pageCatalogue product IDConfiguration codeListed option
X4S standard-head high-speed handpieceX4SX4S-M4X4S sales configuration shown on the page

Third-party names are used only to identify an interface reference. They do not imply affiliation, authorization or endorsement.

For a quote or sample

  • company name and customer type;
  • destination country or market;
  • catalogue product ID;
  • configuration code, when displayed;
  • expected quantity or current project stage;
  • whether the request concerns Westcode supply, OEM or private label; and
  • any document requirement that must be checked before ordering.

Use the Westcode product finder to copy the two references. If you start the inquiry from a product page, the form carries over the selected product and configuration for you.

For parts or repair

If the handpiece is already in use, send its catalogue product ID or every marking you can read. Describe the symptom in plain terms—for example, when it occurs and whether it is constant or intermittent. The service team may also ask for clear views of:

  • the complete handpiece;
  • the product marking or label;
  • the head from more than one useful angle;
  • the rear connection or coupling area; and
  • the visible area connected with the reported issue.

Photographs help, but they cannot confirm spare-part compatibility on their own. The service team will compare the images and markings with the available records before recommending the next step. See Parts & Repair for the service route.

This article is not a repair or reprocessing instruction. Follow the instructions supplied for the product and use qualified service personnel. Never include patient or clinical data in an inquiry.

For manuals and regulatory documents

Send the catalogue product ID, configuration code, destination country and name of the document you need. The team will check the legal entity, model coverage, market and validity before confirming what is available. A general statement that a product is “CE” does not replace a model-specific document check.

The Quality & Certificates page explains how Westcode handles document requests. Certificate files remain private until the legal entity, model coverage and publication status have been checked.

Frequently asked questions

Is the catalogue product ID the same as the configuration code?

No. The catalogue product ID names the model or family. The configuration code identifies the option listed on that product page. Record both when they are shown.

Is a Westcode configuration code a CE model?

No. It is a commercial configuration reference. Regulatory model designations and documents are checked separately for the product and destination market.

Can Westcode identify a handpiece from one photograph?

Usually not. Send every visible marking plus clear views of the complete handpiece, head, and coupling or connection interface. The team will tell you if another view is needed.

What if the product page shows several configurations?

Use the code on the product page for the version you selected. Do not borrow a code from a similar-looking product.

Can I request documents before placing an order?

Yes. Include the model, configuration and destination market so the team can check whether the requested document covers that product.

Send the references with your inquiry

Open the product finder, copy the catalogue product ID and configuration code, then send them through the Westcode inquiry form. Add your destination country and the purpose of the request. That is usually enough for the team to begin with the right record.
